Hurricane Matthew Currently on track for hitting Haiti hard late tonight. Wayne was scheduled to fly into Port Au Prince this afternoon, but due to some obvious weather issues, his flight has been rescheduled for Wednesday afternoon. Most of our leadership team is currently in the states, and it’s been difficult to watch this storm develop knowing we won’t be there to help should things go badly on campus, or in the city. While Wayne is there, his main objective will be to touch base with the staff and leadership, and help host a team that comes in at the end of October. Please keep our staff, campus, city, nation, and region in prayer as this storm is predicted to drop up to 40 inches of rain in some locations.
We had our second home visit today! The agency that completed our home study sent a social worker from Ft. Lauderdale (about 2 hours away). After the initial visit which was required to have our home study approved; it is required that we have three followup visits post placement, one of which had to be at home, and the others can be anywhere. In addition to the $200 report filing fee for each visit, we have to pay for her time and milage, which is nearly another $200! Today, we were able to drive down to Boca and pay only $65! (So, $265 including report filing fee) After today’s visit, the agency should be contacting us with a court date which will finalize the adoption! Please pray with us that the date will be set for BEFORE Thanksgiving, so we don’t get lost in the upcoming holidays. The above costs were unexpected, and never communicated in our initial contact with the agency. All glory to God, we have the fees to cover these costs! He has been so faithful! I can’t even explain how He has stretched our finances, and provided for every need so far on this stressful, beautiful, hard, and glorious journey of adoption. Unfortunately, we’ve acquired about $10,000 worth of medical bills. As I mentioned in our last update, Ellie had to have an Echo after her first visit with her pediatrician. As it turns out, those aren’t free! We are currently signed up with Christian Healthcare Ministries which should help cover most of those costs, but they haven’t said they’ll cover them all. We also have to work out a payment plan with the hospital in Indiana, and here in Florida until Christian Healthcare can pay out the main chunk. This can take up to 6 months. If you can help with a one time gift while things are a bit stretched, we would so appreciate it! If you would like to begin supporting us monthly, or would like to send a one time gift, please send checks made out to YWAM Haiti to: YWAM Haiti PO Box 236 Akron, PA 17501 Please include a slip of paper designating the funds to Wayne & Keturah Snow.
