Serving those who are responding to God’s call to love.

Praise Him

Just got home from another event. Tired. The emergency root canal I had yesterday, still throbbing after this long day, and by throbbing, I mean my jaw is one big heartbeat. It hurts like crazy. Embracing the pain, I need to write. There are days that we come back from an event and we just know that it was God ordained and the energy flowing from the Holy Spirit is alive and moving. Then, there are days when we come back from events and we are drained, spent and aren’t sure we saw or felt anything significant. It can be discouraging….
But not today. Today, we remember. We remember that all of these seemingly insignificant times spent packing up, setting up, talking about our mission and taking down, add up to great significance. We are not discouraged today, although it would be easy to lean that way. There was no great excitement, no deep connections, no big donations, no large sales to split with our done and African vendor. Yep, today we could get discouraged. But today we remember that every day we wake up and make a choice. We make a choice to keep on going, no matter if we feel those awesome feelings of confirmation or not. In those places, trust and faith are born. They force us to remember and believe that God is doing his behind the scenes work that we know nothing about. He says, “thanks for showing up, now I’ll take it from here.” We end our day knowing that our obedience is all he wants and that is enough.
So it feels good to sit in bed, resting (as much as possible with a throbbing root) in the grace of the Almighty and his sovereignty, knowing that he has taken the wheel and is directing all that love to the right spot, so he can use it for his good. What a feeling to let penetrate my soul this late Saturday afternoon. A song of praise rises in my heart. This was a good day. This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it. I will end with Psalms 150…
Praise the Lord!
Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens!
Praise him for his mighty deeds; praise him according to his excellent greatness!
Praise him with trumpet sound; praise him with lute and harp!
Praise him with tambourine and dance; praise him with strings and pipe!
Praise him with sounding cymbals; praise him with loud clashing cymbals!
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Praise the Lord!
